Literature Text

I would not know how to remember you,
If I loved you or you loved me better.
Sifting you through the clumsy fingers of memory,
I stutter in black ink, scribbling with white spaces.
Amorphous secrets bleed to blur,
Time cannot hold the calm of forgetting in its numbers,
Neither contain the meanings it meanders.

I would not know how to keep you,
You fade brilliantly, slowly into amnesia.
Speak softly, and help me remember why I shouldn't lose this promise.
Hush the fire that sneak slowly in my veins,
Tempt me into your sky, to drift carelessly into your ocean.

Know that when you forget me, I would have already forgotten you.
That if I find you, you would've already written me over in your pages.
But listen to how your hair sleeps on your shoulders,
For every now and then, I still hear how it slept on mine.
Recognize the emptying of cups and coffee shops,
Or the end of rainfall at crowded bus stops,
These are the corners with just but the two of us,
Catching us unaware with their escaping.
Though slowly I find myself breaking, from this little contest I never wanted,
Of you hurting me and me hurting you better.
Though little are the sands that wait for unfinished sympathy,
Make no mistake, that I would find it easily to give up on you,
When you've finally given up on me.

I would not know the weight of words,
Should any remain by the time that you should wake.
You will be leaving soon, then I will be gone.
If I would find myself waiting, and you regretting;
Or in vast moments, should these verses lose their power
I would look upon your photograph with empty longing, wondering,
If I ever knew you, or you knew me better,
I would not know.

3 1/2 years later nearly and you will still receive this comment. A very interesting poem my friend. I am now going through a divorce sadly... and my six year anniversary was occuring just this past sunday. Sad to say that was one I spent alone. In part I should say it kind of strikes to me the kind of words she might say to me... however as one fellow said previously I couldn't simply walk away from this one. I actually thought this one particular poem caught my eye and I don't read Deviant poems all that often. In short I really like this one and I will favorite it. Might I ask what was your inspiration? ^_^'
